If i was explain this to my younger sibilings it would go something like this:
"Now distance is a certain amount of space between two things. Also displacement is the distance from the starting point to the ending point"
Distance is a certain amount of space between two things.For example, the amount of space between Denny's to Mcdonalds is distance.Displacement is the distance from starting point to the ending point.For example,in baseball lets say you hit a homerun from homeplate to homeplate is displacement.The difference between the two altogether would be the amount of space.
